Interval Data

A type of data where the values are on a precise continuous scale with equal intervals between them. The data points have a known order, and the difference between values are equal. Examples of interval data include temperature measured in degrees (Celsius or Fahrenheit) and calendar dates. With interval data, we can make precise comparisons between values, and calculate meaningful differences (e.g., the difference between 1 and 2 is the same as the difference between 4 and 5). In contrast, this is not appropriate with ordinal data.
