The Pain of SPSS: Too Much or Not Enough?

Do any of these “SPSS pains” apply to you?

  1. You use an offshore partner for data analysis, and sometimes you’d like to check their work. Makes sense, right? We all want to watch data quality. But if their work is done in SPSS and you don’t have that skill on your own team, how can you be sure their work is correct? You have options: have a second researcher replicate a small part of the work to verify the quality, or train someone on your team to do “enough” SPSS that they can do some basic checking.
  2. You have one or two hands-on SPSS pros on your team, but they are always swamped. Would having a vetted SPSS pro pre-screened just for you, who could be available for quick-turn needs, save you some aggravation?
  3. You usually rely on your vendors to do all phases of survey research, including the data analysis work, but sometimes they aren’t available for fast iterations. If you have a reliable vendor, great! But what if someone on your team could do same day (same hour?) turn around on basic tasks? Want a new, previously not needed banner? Want to try consolidating those related variables? Maybe you just want a few more spins on some cluster analysis? Sometimes speed matters. A little training could be the solution.
  4. You have some solid survey researchers on the team, and you want them to advance to higher-end skills. How do they get there? Hey, we teach those classes (Analyzing Survey Data Using SPSS:101 and Analyzing Survey Data Using SPSS:201). But whether they take a class or not, what if they could get a few private coaching sessions? Our SPSS pros can screen share to coach on problems solving or overcoming problems. Or maybe your team members are already awesome at descriptive and banner tables, but struggling a bit with multivariate predictive techniques? We can help.

It’s a classic case of buy versus build. You can train your team (using our eLearning courses) or you can hire a temporary expert (using our Rent-a-Researcher service).

  • Our SPSS experts are available to do the work or to coach your SPSS newbies. Yup. We have experienced SPSS pros who are happy to help any way they can! Rates start at $130/hour. Click here to request a bio sheet of qualified SPSS candidates.
  • We offer 2 SPSS courses to our members, in both Full Access (includes live real-time lectures) and On-Demand versions.
