[New video] Market Research & Customer Insights Career Coaching

What do business strategy, cross-functional team management, CX and market research have in common?

They are all phrases commonly mentioned in current market research and insights job postings. Today’s job opportunities require both conventional skills and synthesis skills. By synthesis skills, I mean the ability to integrate multiple data sources for a data-agnostic, comprehensive approach to meeting project goals. This often requires leading (if temporarily) cross-functional teams. It also means being the translator between data and business strategy.  BTW, see this related article in the Harvard Business Review on the role of translators (be sure to see the comments at the bottom).

So are you thinking about your market research and insights career path? Ready to refresh you career goals? These career coaching tips are for anyone who is planning to start or advance their market research and insights (MR&I) career in a corporate/brand environment. If your interest is in a career working for a market research company, some of these tips will not apply to you.
