Observed Data

Observed data is data based on a person’s passively observed activities such as engagement with a very specific category of content or product, usage of an app, etc. collected on someone or something without any or very little interaction.

A key point of observed data is to not significantly affect the results of the observation.

Example: Before Apple releases a prototype iPhone model they observe subjects using a prototype device without intervening. This allows them to see if new features are easy to use and valuable to consumers.
