A type of scale anchored at opposite ends of a given spectrum (see also “semantic differential scale”). For example, we might ask in a survey, “Please describe your experience at a restaurant”, followed by three five-point scales:
- The first with labels ranging from common to unique.
- The second from inexpensive to expensive.
- And the third from boring design to fun.
Each of these three pairs would be considered bi-polar.
